Old Trafford side keen on a trio of Estadio do Dragao talents.

Check in to Sunderland vs Manchester United

Man United are scouting three FC Porto stars as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to strenghten his Old Trafford squad by raiding the Primeira Liga title holders.

Ferguson appears happy to shop in the Portuguese top tier having brought in a number of talents via this route with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson and Bebe making a move to Old Trafford via the country and now it seems the Scot is once again scouting in Portugal

Today Man United are strongly linked with FC Porto left-back Alex Sandro who the Daily Mail claim is top of Ferguson’s list of potential long term successors to Patrice Evra’s spot in the starting eleven.

This despite the fact that Ferguson signed Dutchman Alexander Buttner to perform just such a function last summer and has as yet barely used the former Vitesse Arnhem man.

Sandro is an impressive target though, with the £8m Brazilian international showing a great deal of consistency since his move to Portugal from Santos back in 2011.

The Daily Star believe that French centre-back Eliaqium Mangala is also high up on the Man United wish-list with the FC Porto defender being seen as a long term replacement for Rio Ferdinand.

This source believes a £20m fee would be needed to land the former Standard Liege man, a big fee for a player at the age of 22 who still awaiting his first national team cap so one wonders if Ferguson would be willing to do business at that price.

Man United also continue to pursue Colombian James Rodriguez who has a massive £36m release clause that the Daily Express believe is well within the Premier League table topper’s budget.

The young attacker may be seen as a more effective wide attacking talent than the likes of Nani, Luis Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, who has managed just one goal between them in Premier League action this season.

Rodriguez is not only one of the Primeira Liga’s top assist makers he has also netted eight goals in 17 starts.
