Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is determined to sign Blackpool’s Tom Ince and will make a renewed attempt to seal the player’s signature this summer according to The Mirror.

The England under-21 star almost joined the Anfield club during the January transfer window, only for the deal to fall through after the two clubs could not agree a fee.

Blackpool wanted a sell on clause inserted by Liverpool when Ince first moved to the Championship club to be waived while Liverpool were hoping to negotiate a cheaper deal for Ince should they decide not to enforce it.

But with Ince having just twelve months left on his current deal with the Seasiders, it is thought the club will be keen to re-open negotiations rather than risk losing Ince for nothing.

Ince came through the ranks at the Liverpool Academy and is reportedly keen to secure a return to the club.

Rodgers is hoping a deal in the region of £4 million can be agreed. Reports in recent weeks suggested the Anfield manager will be given just £20 million to spend this summer, despite Rodgers’ public statement that he believes the club needs three or four new players.

Ince’s performances for Blackpool were recognised recently when he won the Football League’s Young Player of the Year award.
