Check in to Arsenal vs Reading

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has promised the club’s new manager Nigel Adkins he will be given significant sums to spend during the summer transfer window according to talkSport.

The former Southampton man was recently confirmed as the new manager of the Royals after they parted ways with Brian McDermott a few weeks earlier.

Reading had been linked with a host of top managers including Roberto Di Matteo, Luis Enrique and Gus Poyet but they have finally found their man in the ex-Saints boss.

During his unveiling, Anton Zingarevich revealed that he had hoped McDermott would have spent more of his money when he had the opportunity during the previous two transfer windows.

Zingarevich went on to say he especially believes the club should have been more active during the January transfer window .

Adkins has been promised he will be given a far larger budget than his predecessor.

It appears the Russian millionaire will insist to Adkins he replenish the squad regardless of whether they maintain their Premier League status.

The Royals currently face a battle to remain in the English top flight. With eight games remaining, they currently lie in 19th place and are seven points off Aston Villa who lie in the safety of 17th.
