Catalan club preparing summer bid for German centre-back.
Barcelona are preparing a big summer bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels according to talkSport.
The Catalan club are ready to make the German centre-back their number one summer transfer target and are monitoring the availability of Hummels.
The La Liga leaders are keen to bring in a replacement for Carlos Puyol as the Spanish defender nears the end of his illustrious career.
Barcelona are keen to bring in a defender who can fit in with their fluid style of passing football and have identified Hummels as the perfect man to shore up the Barcelona back-line.
Reports had suggested that Barcelona had been put off by the fee that was being demanded by the Bundesliga club but it now appears the Spanish side are ready to push the boat out to bring the player to the Nou Camp.
That will come as good news to fans of Manchester City. It has been suggested that Barcelona were ready to turn their attention to Etihad captain Vincent Kompany after being deterred from Hummels.
Barcelona may find competition for Hummels though from former Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola. The Spanish boss is set to take charge of Bayern Munich this summer and is reportedly keen to bring Hummels to the Allianz Arena.
