Manchester City are continuing to monitor the availability of Napoli’s Edinson Cavani according to Sky Sports.

The club’s defensive coach, Angelo Gregucci, confirmed that the Premier League champions were likely to make a move for the forward should he become available come the summer.

Cavani has become one of the most sought after stars in world football after a string of impressive performances for Napoli.

The player’s goals have fired the club into second place in Serie A and Cavani currently sits top of the Italian league’s top scorers chart.

Napoli are keen to hold on to the player but may find themselves powerless to keep him as the club’s President acknowledged the existence of a £60 million release clause in the player’s contract.

The likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all thought to be ready to make a mega bucks move for the striker.

City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to bring in attacking reinforcements to the club as he looks to revitalise his side who have surrendered a 15 point lead to Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.

The club sold striker Mario Balotelli to AC Milan during the January transfer window and he looks set to be followed out of the Etihad exit door by Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.
