French side Monaco are set to make an audacious attempt to lure Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini to the club according to The Mirror.

The club currently sit top of the French Ligue 2 but could well soon become one of the biggest clubs in France following the takeover by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev.

Rybolovlev is keen to restore Monaco amongst the European elite and is known to be a big admirer of Mancini.

He tried to lure the Italian to the club last summer only to find his advances turned down by the City boss.

But Mancini has since become disillusioned with life at the Etihad, believing a number of his title winning squad from last season to have become complacent.

Ryboloblev is hoping to turn Mancini’s head by the offer of a staggering £170 million transfer kitty to spend on new signings, and a whopping three year deal thought to be worth £22 million in wages.

Ryboloblev is keen to bring in a high profile manager as he looks for Monaco to go head to head with Qatari backed Ligue 1 side PSG next season.

It appears current boss Claudio Ranieri’s days are numbered. Should Mancini turn down the offer, it is thought former French national team boss Laurent Blanc will be approached.
