Check in to Manchester City vs Newcastle United

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has demanded his stars finish the club on a high note according to ESPN.

The Etihad side have all but given hope on their chances of retaining the Premier League title after surrendering a 15 point lead to city rivals Manchester United.

While there are eight games still remaining, and Manchester United capitulated last season, no team has failed to go on to win the Premier League title after establishing such a wide margin.

But Italian boss Mancini is demanding the team maintain their intensity as the season draws to a close.

The City boss is keen to ensure the club hold on to second place warning that neither Chelsea nor Spurs can be ruled out as potential rivals for the position.

City still have a chance of securing some silverware this season in the form of the FA Cup.

They will face the winners of Monday’s game between Manchester United and Chelsea in the semi-finals of the tournament next month.

Mancini stated that he believed winning the FA Cup and finishing second would not be a bad season but admitted the team had been disappointed at their failure to keep pace with Manchester United.
