Toffees target Bundesliga keeper.
Fortuna Dusseldorf have told Everton that their prized young goalkeeper, Fabian Giefer, will cost them more than they think if they are to have any hopes of landing him, Sky Sports reports.
The 22-year-old has been attracting interest this season with a string of fine performances and Everton, along with Schalke, are said to be plotting a summer move.

But he won’t come as cheap as the Liverpool side were hoping. Dusseldorf have quoted the Toffees a price in the region of £4.2 million.
Dusseldorf are aware what a talent they have on their hands and board member, Thomas Allofs said; “If there is any serious interest in Fabian Giefer, any starting bid would need to be beyond €5m. Otherwise this is nothing of our concern.”
“In the end we would always have to insist there is still a valid deal existing between Fabian Giefer and Fortuna Dusseldorf.”
Giefer joined Fortuna last summer from Bayer Leverkusen after coming through their youth academy, but fell behind in the pecking order to Bernd Leno and Michael Rensing. He has so far made 17 appearances this season.
Everton are said to be considering their goalkeeping options with Jan Mucha’s contract set to expire at the end of the season and Tim Howard currently sidelined with a broken back.
Though Giefer has just under 18 months to run on his current deal, the club are in no rush to sell. Before moving to Dusseldorf he reportedly turned down a move to Bayern Munich for more playing time at a smaller club.
