Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has admitted he would like to punch the club’s midfielder Samir Nasri according to The Guardian.

The French midfielder put in a mesmerising display at City demolished Newcastle 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The former Arsenal star was at the heart of all his team’s attacks and showed just why the club spent £25 million for the player’s signature in 2011.

But it has not happened regularly enough this season for Nasri as he has failed to put in those kind of displays on a regular basis.

The player’s display epitomises Manchester City’s season this year as they have surrendered a 15 point lead to Manchester United in the race for the Premier League title.

On their day, City and Nasri are as good as any in the league but have lost ground in the title race as they have dropped points after becoming complacent in games against lesser teams.

Mancini lamented Nasri and certain members of the Etihad dressing room’s inability to play at their best in every game this year.

The Italian stated he believed Nasri’s internal voice will be telling him he has had a poor season.

Nasri could be one of a number of players on their way out of Manchester City this summer with Mancini keen to revitalise his squad.
