Borussia Dortmund are looking to persuade Robert Lewandowski to stay at the club according to The Sun.

The Polish striker has been putting in some impressive performances for the German giants and has been strongly linked with a summer move.

The likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United are thought to be leading the chase for the player’s signature.

Lewandowski was reportedly close to sealing a move to United last summer before Sir Alex Ferguson chose to move for Robin Van Persie.

The Polish striker’s contract expires at the end of next season and it had been thought that Dortmund would move the player on now rather than risk losing him for nothing.

But Lewandowski’s team-mates are urging the player to ‘stay where he belongs’ and stick with Dortmund as they look to challenge Bayern for the Bundesliga title.

The club currently boast the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels and are developing into one of the strongest sides in Europe.

Dortmund are keen to keep their star striker as they prepare for the arrival of Pep Guardiola at rivals Bayern Munich.

Dortmund are set to go head to head with Malaga on Wednesday night as they look to book their place in the Champions League semi finals.
