Darren Bent’s Aston Villa has come under speculation again according to The Daily Mail.

The former England striker has found himself marginalised at the club this season with boss Paul Lambert preferring to play summer signing Christian Benteke ahead of Bent.

Benteke has rewarded Lambert for his decision with a number of goals that could prove vital to keeping Villa in the Premier League.

But Bent is becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of playing team and is hoping to secure a move away from the club come the summer.

The last straw for Bent came this week after he trained with the squad following his return from injury, only to find himself left out of the match day squad for the weekend’s game against Liverpool.

Lambert confirmed that Bent was fit and available for selection but seemingly finds himself behind both Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor in the pecking order.

Bent is the club’s record signing after they splashed out £24 million to bring the player to the club from Premier League side Sunderland.

Bent is keen to secure first team football as he hopes to persuade England boss Roy Hodgson to include him in his squad for next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil.
