Arsenal are preparing a summer bid for QPR’s Julio Cesar. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in competition for Wojciech Szczesny after the Polish youngster has committed a number of high profile errors this season.

Szczesny’s erratic displays could prove costly to the club should they miss out on a Champions League qualification spot and Wenger is keen to bring in a new goalkeeper come the summer.

Szczesny is still thought to have a bright future at the club and Wenger believes the 33 year old Cesar could be the perfect mentor for the young stopper.

Wenger was alerted to the possibility of signing Cesar while keeping tabs on QPR pair Loic Remy and Christopher Samba.

Harry Redknapp’s men look certain to be relegated this season as they are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

They sit seven points from safety with just seven games remaining and look certain to be playing Championship football next season.

QPR know they will be unable to hold onto their more high profile stars should they go down and Cesar is likely to be one of the first to leave.

Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan are also expected to compete for the Brazilian’s signature.
