English veteran to continue Aussie adventure.

Former England striker, Emile Heskey has penned a new deal that will keep him at A League side Newcastle Jets until next year, Sky Sports reports.

The 35-year-old had originally singed a one year deal as a marquee player with the Jets but has decided to extend his stay with the club thanks to the good form he’s shown since joining from Aston Villa last summer.

Heskey has scored nine goals in 23 games so far this season and has improved the profile of the league alongside Alessandro Del Piero who joined Sydney FC after his deal with Juventus ended last year.

“I’m pleased to be extending my stay in Newcastle for another year,” he told the club’s website,”Everyone has made me feel very welcome here and I’ve really enjoyed my first season playing for the Jets.”

“I’m looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and helping the team push for a finals place next season.”

Heskey is enjoying his most prolific season in front of goal since he scored 11 goals for Birmingham City during the 2004-05 season and is said to be enjoying his Indian summer so much that he may look to stay in the country when he decides to hang up his boots.
