Liverpool have set their sights on Galatasaray forward Burak Yilmaz as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his Anfield attack according to CalcioMercato.

The 27 year old has had an excellent first season at Galatasaray following his summer move from Trabzonspor, scoring goals aplenty both in the Super Lig and the Champions League. In the process the Turkish international has become a much sought after property with a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ taking an interest.

Rodgers may well feel that despite the successful pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge he could still do with effective options to beef up his Liverpool strike-force, which is perhaps not surprising given the poor season Fabio Borini has had thus far.

Yilmaz has racked up 26 goals in 32 appearances this term and could well be tempted by a move to the Premier League but the fact that Liverpool in all likelihood won’t have Champions League football to offer the prolific marksman may well prove something of a stumbling block.

Galatasaray landed Yilmaz for just £4.1m a year ago but will almost certainly demand perhaps as much as three times such a fee this summer.
