Stamford Bridge side to make mammoth offer for Atletico Madrid forward.

Check in to Chelsea vs Sunderland

Chelsea are reportedly very keen to sign Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, so much so that they are willing to offer both misfiring striker Fernando Torres and highly rated keeper Thibaut Courtois and a significant cash sum to win the race to sign the Colombian according to TuttoMercato.

It’s an offer that might just tempt the Vicente Calderon side.

Courtois has been in superb form in his second season long loan spell at the La Liga club and the Belgian is a player Diego Simeone would be keen to retain on a permanent basis. The 20 year old is yet to play a senior game for Chelsea despite moving to Stamford Bridge in July 2011 and it seems likely any return to his parent club would entail a spell on the bench as a back-up for Petr Cech so a move to join Atletico Madrid would probably tempt the youngster.

Given that Atletico Madrid’s fanbase will no doubt be disappointed with any prospective sale of their top striker Falcao a move to bring Fernando Torres back to the club may well help the club’s owners ease their supporters wrath.

Whilst Torres has struggled for form he could well see a return to form in his native Spain and could therefore act as a ready made replacement for Falcao, who has been in astounding form this term.

The 27 year old former FC Porto striker has scored 28 goals in all competitions this term and managed 36 in his first season in Spain.

Roman Abramovich may well be keen to bring in a big-name striker signing and it appears that Radamel Falcao is the number one target on the Blues radar.
