Ajax boss Frank de Boer is being lined up to replace Roberto Mancini at Manchester City according to The Mirror.

The former Barcelona defender is earning himself a strong reputation as a manager after guiding Ajax to the top of the Dutch Eredivisie.

His performances have not gone unnoticed by Premier League giants Manchester City who are considering appointing the Dutchman as a replacement for the club’s current manager Mancini.

Mancini guided the club to their first ever Premier League title and remains popular amongst the club’s fans.

But City’s owners are reportedly beginning to lose patience with the Italian boss after a disappointing season both domestically and in Europe.

City suffered the humiliation of exiting the Champions League at the group stages although they were drawn in a difficult group alongside Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and de Boer’s Ajax.

They have also flopped in the Premier League though and have now surrendered a fifteen point lead to city rivals Manchester United.

The club’s owners are thought to be unhappy that the club have not been able to mount a stronger challenge despite spending significant sums of money on the current squad.

Mancini is also thought to be disillusioned with life at the Etihad as he has become frustrated with a number of players in his squad who he believes have become complacent following their success last season.
