Pep Guardiola is set to look to Italy as he draws up his short list of summer targets for Bayern Munich according to tuttomercatoweb.

The former Barcelona boss is set to take over the German giants at the end of the current season and is already planning who he wants to bring into the club.

Guardiola has reportedly made a new striker one of his top priorities. Reports in recent weeks had linked him with a mega bucks move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez but it now appears the Spanish boss may turn his attentions to Napoli’s Edinson Cavani.

Cavani is Serie A’s top scorer this year and has been linked with a number of top European sides including Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Napoli will not let the player go for anything less than the £60 million release fee in the player’s contract but Guardiola is hoping to tempt the Italian side by offering German forward Mario Gomez as a makeweight in the deal.

Guardiola is also thought to be interested in Juventus pair Arturo Vidal and Stephan Lichtsteiner but he will face a battle to sign either of them with the Serie A leaders looking to retain the duo as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Champions League.
