Manchester City have first refusal on Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic according to Goal.com.

The Montenegrin striker has become one of the most sought after players in Europe after an impressive season with the Serie A club.

The player has hit twelve goals this season as he has fired Fiorentina into fourth place in the Italian top flight.

Arsenal were thought to be leading the chase for the forward with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly preparing a £25 million bid for the striker but reports are now suggesting that Arsenal are yet to formalise their summer transfer targets.

That places Manchester City in pole position to sign Jovetic as they look to bring in attacking reinforcements to the club this summer.

The Premier League Champions reportedly negotiated a first refusal deal with Fiorentina for Jovetic as part of the transfer that saw defender Matija Nastasic join City last summer.

Jovetic has been urged by a string of his Fiorentina team mates, including Italian forward Luca Toni and Jovetic’s Montenegro team-mate Stefan Savic, to turn down the advances of Arsenal and instead join City.

City are now looking the player’s most likely destination although Juventus are thought to be keen to persuade the player to remain in Italy.
