Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou is hoping to secure a move to Newcastle according to The Daily Express.

The Cameroonian centre back has become an integral part of the Lille side that is currently pushing St Etienne for the final Champions League qualification spot in Ligue 1.

But Chedjou has admitted he has had his head turned by the prospect of joining up with Alan Pardew’s men and playing Premier League football.

Should Chedjou join the club, he would add to a growing contingent of former Ligue 1 stars in the St. James’ Park dressing room.

The club have recently bought the likes of Papiss Cisse, Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Yoann Gouffran, Mathieu Debuchy and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa as they seek to take advantage of the value available in the French market.

Chedjou could come in as a replacement for club captain Fabricio Coloccini. The Argentine defender is reportedly homesick and is keen to secure a move to San Lorenzo this summer, where his father is working as a coach.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew believes the 27 year old Chedjou to be the perfect fit for his Newcastle backline as the club look to improve on their performances in the Premier League next season.
