Tottenham have moved a step closer in their attempts to sign Roma’s Pablo Osvaldo according to The Daily Express.

Spurs boss Andre Vilas-Boas is desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer after being disappointed with the performances of striker pair Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor this season.

Defoe started the season in blistering form but has gone off the boil since the new year while Manu Adebayor has flattered to deceive since joining the club on a permanent deal from Manchester City during the summer.

AVB has made bring in a couple of new strikers his top priority this summer and is ready to make his move for Roma’s Osvaldo.

The Italian striker has found himself out of favour in the Italian capital as Roma continue to struggle in Serie A.

The Italian giants look set to miss out on European qualification this season and that could lead to a summer exit for a number of the club’s top stars.

Tottenham have approached Roma with a bid of £8 million for the striker as they look to seal an early deal for the player’s services.

Osvaldo’s former coach at Bologna, Franco Colomba, had a stern warning for Tottenham fans though expressing his belief that the player can be a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
