Swansea have secured the services of Chico Flores for an additional year according to Sky Sports.

The Spanish centre-back agreed a one year contract extension which will he see him remain at the club until 2016.

The defender has been in fine form since arriving at the Liberty Stadium last summer, forming one of the Premier League’s most impressive partnerships with the club’s captain Ashley Williams.

The pair’s performances played an integral role in the club securing the Capital One Cup following their 5-0 victory over Bradford at Wembley. The Swans also look set to build on their success in the Premier League from last season with the club currently on course to finish in the top half of the table.

Swansea were keen to secure the future of Flores with speculation swirling regarding a potential summer move for Williams.

Williams has been attracting the attention of a number of top Premier League teams with Arsenal and Liverpool both thought to be monitoring the player’s availability in preparation for a summer bid.

Laudrup is keen to hold on to as many of his squad as possible as he prepares the club for a Europa League campaign next season as a result of their Capital One Cup success.
