Jonathan de Guzman has reiterated his desire to remain at Swansea next season according to The South Wales Evening Post.

The Dutch midfielder has been in impressive form for Swansea this season and has become a key part of Michael Laudrup’s side.

De Guzman played an integral role in helping Swansea lift the Capital One Cup following a 5-0 victory over Bradford at Wembley and has also been instrumental in the club’s lofty position in the Premier League table.

De Guzman is currently out on loan from Spanish side Villarreal but the Swans are keen to turn the deal into a permanent one.

But Villarreal are stalling on negotiations as they wait to discover whether they will achieve promotion to the Spanish first division next season.

Should Villarreal get promoted, they demand a higher transfer fee for de Guzman or even decide to recall him back into their squad.

The player’s performances have not gone unnoticed by other teams as well and Swansea are worried the delay could allow other clubs to swoop in and steal the player.

But de Guzman has sought to allay any fears the club might have by insisting he feels at home at the Liberty Stadium as is keen to extend his stay in Wales.
