Man United are reportedly interested in using Portuguese winger Nani in a part-exchange deal to sign Colombian international James Rodriguez according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21 year old has a £36m release clause and Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to garner at least £14m from the sale of off-form Nani and will presumably then pay up the rest of any fee for the FC Porto man as he looks to bring in more effective wide attacking options.

Nani, Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia have all had very average campaigns and a number of scouting missions to observe Rodriguez appear to have led to a very real interest in the former Banfield man.

Rodriguez is one of the leading scorers and assist makers in the Primeira Liga this term and helped his side to back to back titles in his first two seasons at the Estadio Dragao.

Ferguson has apparently ran out of patience with Nani after one too many sub standard displays and the 26 year old attacker may well be interested in a move back to his native Portugal where he could look to re-ignite a career that is in danger of stagnating at Man United.
