Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed reports that Chelsea are set to sign Andre Schurrle according to Sky Sports.

The German international has become one of the hottest properties in Europe after a string of impressive performances in the Bundesliga this season.

A number of top European sides have been linked with the player’s signature with Chelsea thought to be leading a queue of clubs showing interest in the player.

Reports in recent week had suggested that the Stamford Bridge side had approached Leverkusen with a firm offer for Schurrle.

If reports are to be believed, Chelsea went to the German giants with a player plus cash offer involving young Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne has been playing out on loan at Werder Bremen this season where his impressive performances have won him the admiration of a number of Germany’s top clubs.

Leverkusen have previously shown their interest in the player and it is thought Chelsea are ready to offer de Bruyne on a season long loan deal as a sweetener in negotiations for Schurrle.

Chelsea reportedly offered a fee of £12 million for the forward but Leverkusen are thought to be looking for a figure closer to the player’s £28.5 million release fee clause.
