Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has warned the club’s fans not to expect any mega-bucks signings this summer according to Sky Sports.

The Italian boss admitted that the club were trying to spend less money as they weigh up their options in this summer’s transfer market.

City owner Sheikh Mansour has previously lavished vast sums of money to bring Europe’s top talent to the Etihad Stadium.

But it now appears he is no longer as willing to spend such large amounts to improve the team.

That may come as disappointing news to the club’s fans who have seen their side surrender a fifteen point lead to city rivals Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

That could be stretched even further should the club fail to get a result during the Manchester derby on Monday.

City have been linked with a number of high profile moves this summer. Napoli’s Edinson Cavani has been touted as a possibility after the club’s President revealed the Uruguayan striker has a £50 million release clause in his contract.

But it now appears City are unwilling to spend such a fee on new players this summer which could also rule out Atletico Madrid’s Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.
