Brazilian side Santos have not given up hope of bringing AC Milan’s Robinho back to the club according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Brazilian striker started his career at Santos and is reportedly keen on a return to his homeland.

Robinho was reportedly close to a move to Santos during the January transfer window only for AC Milan to decide to hold onto the player until the end of the season.

The Italian giant went on to sign Mario Balotelli from Manchester City and that has seen Robinho’s first team chances limited at the San Siro in recent months.

The player currently finds himself behind the likes of Balotelli, Stephan El Sharaaway and M’Baye Niang in the AC Milan pecking order and that has reaffirmed his desire to secure a move come the end of the season.

Santos will be hoping that AC Milan lower their demands for the player. The club’s vice-president Adriano Galliani reportedly told Santos they would have to pay out £8 million for the player’s signature.

Milan are likely to be willing to consider a reduced offer rather than force an unhappy Robinho to stay at the club.

The move presents the mouth-watering possibility of Santos pairing Robinho up front with Brazilian wonderkid Neymar.
