Fulham are set to make a summer bid for Stoke’s  Asmir Begovic according to The Mirror.

Begovic has become one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in the Premier League after a number of impressive seasons between the posts at the Britannia Stadium.

The goalkeeper has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United as doubts continue to circle over current Old Trafford number one David de Gea’s aerial ability.

But a move could now be put on hold after the Spaniard’s improved recent performances.

That could allow Fulham to swoop in and secure the player’s signature. Begovic is thought to be ready to consider his options as Stoke find themselves being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

Should Stoke suffer relegation to the Championship, Begovic would almost certainly leave and Fulham will be hoping to persuade the Bosnian his future lies at Craven Cottage.

Fulham are currently in talks with their veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer over a contract extension but the Aussie stopper is reportedly keen to receive guarantees that he will be playing first team football.

Stoke will consider offers for Begovic with the club having announced in January that Birmingham’s Jack Butland will join the club this summer.
