Former City player believes club will spend big this summer.

Check in to Chelsea vs Manchester City

Former Manchester City forward Niall Quinn has revealed that he is expecting the club to make a number of high profile signings this summer according to BBC Sport.

City secured their first ever Premier League title last season under the guidance of Italian boss Roberto Mancini.

But the club have fallen away in the race for the Premier League title this season and currently trail their city rivals Manchester United by twelve points.

Barring a shock capitulation from Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, the Premier League title seems destined for Old Trafford and Quinn has warned United to expect a strong response from City in this summer’s transfer market.

Quinn expressed his belief that Mancini will be allowed to make a number of high profile signings as the club look to ensure they mount a stronger challenge for the title next season.

City boss Mancini recently blamed the club’s failures in last summer’s transfer market for his team’s inability to keep pace this season.

The club were linked with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Eden Hazard and Javi Martinez only for those players to join Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich respectively.

The club instead had to settle for the likes of Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia who have all failed to make much of an impact on the City first team.
