Spanish boss would be keen to take over from Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has encouraged rumours hinting that he is set to take over from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this summer according to The Express.
The Spanish boss took over from Roberto Di Matteo on an interim basis this season at Stamford Bridge but has not enjoyed his time at the club.
The club’s fans have refused to accept Benitez after negative comments he reportedly made towards the club during his time as Liverpool manager.
The Spaniard looks certain to leave the club during the summer and has admitted in recent weeks that he would a move to one of Europe’s top sides.
He could now be given his wish with reports linking him to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Current boss Jose Mourinho looks certain to leave the club this summer after they have fallen behind their rivals Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.
Mourinho has reportedly also fallen out with senior players in the Real Madrid dressing room with Spanish newspaper Marca reporting in January that Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos had informed club officials they would be handing in transfer requests should Mourinho remain in charge next season.
Benitez is still highly rated in Spain where he is remember for his successful spell as manager of Valencia.
