Stoke are weighing up a summer bid for PSV Eindhoven’s Erik Pieters according to Voetbal International.

Pieters has been in good form for his side since returning from injury in January. That has not gone unnoticed with Stoke keen to try and bring the player to the Premier League.

Pieters is reportedly aware of the interest and is thought to be ready to consider any offer Stoke make for his services.

PSV are keen to hold on to the player but will not stand in his way should the player make it clear he wants to leave the club.

The Dutch giants are likely to demand a fee somewhere in the region of £3-5 million for the defender.

Newcastle United were previously linked with the Pieters’ signature and it is not clear whether the St. James’ Park side might return once again to give Stoke some competition for Pieters’ services.

Any move for Pieters relies on Stoke retaining their Premier League status. Should the club find themselves playing in the Championship next season, they know they are not likely to be able to persuade Pieters to leave the Dutch giants for England.

Pieters has received fifteen caps for the Dutch national side since making his debut in 2010.
