Arsenal midfielder has expressed his shock at suggestions that he is considering retiring at the end of the season according to The Sun.

Reports in recent days had suggested that Arshavin had become disillusioned with the game and was ready to call time on his career.

It was reported that Arshavin had received no offers from any other clubs and was set to call it a day once his contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the current season.

But the Russian midfielder has poured cold water on speculation that his time in the game has come to an end.

The 31 year old is reportedly keen to secure first team football at a new club as he looks to re-establish himself in the Russian national team in time for next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil.

Arshavin has been widely panned by fans of Arsenal who believe him to be one of Arsene Wenger’s worst signings for the club.

The player arrived from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg after Arshavin dazzled for Russia in the 2008 European Championships.

After a bright start, the player has struggled for form and has barely played for Arsenal in the current campaign.
