Arsenal Make Transfer Enquiry About Star Ligue 1 Defender

Gunners eye up right back as replacement for Bacary Sagna.

Arsenal have reportedly taken the first step towards bringing Sochaux’s Sebastien Corchia to the club according to Goal.com.

The French right back has been in fine form for his club this season but that has not been enough to prevent them from slipping down the Ligue 1 table.

The player’s performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of top European sides thought to be monitoring the player’s availability and Sochaux know they are unlikely to keep hold of the player for much longer.

Arsenal have reportedly made tentative steps towards signing Corchia by making an enquiry to Sochaux regarding the player’s availability.

The Gunners were told they would have to stump up a fee of £4.3 million should they wish to bring Corchia to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is unlikely to be put off by that figure as he searches for a replacement for right back Bacary Sagna.

Sagna looks set to leave the club after failing to agree a new deal and publically criticising Arsenal’s transfer policy last summer following the sale of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United.

PSG are thought to be ready to bid for Sagna this summer and Wenger will use the proceeds of that sale to fund a move for Corchia.
