Chelsea Eye Move For Romanian Star

Transylvanian sensation set for Stamford Bridge switch.

Chelsea are said to be lining up a summer swoop for Steaua Bucharest centre back, Vlad Chiriches, according to the Express.

The 23-year-old Romanian international caught the eye during Chelsea’s recent encounter with Steaua during this season’s Europa League campaign in which he scored the goal in the clubs encounter at Stamford Bridge, which they eventually lost 3-1.

However, Chiriches isn’t only being chased by Chelsea with Inter Milan also being strongly linked. His agent, Victor Becali, has claimed that they are not the only two interested in landing his signature either: “They are interested in him but other top European clubs are also following him, including those in Italy. It’s not been said that he will definitely leave Steaua, partly because they continue to ask for €15million.”

“I believe we can handle the figures of the deal but first they need to find an agreement with Steaua. Then we will be ready to talk with other clubs.”

Chiriches only joined Steaua in January 2012 and has fast tracked his career to the point of international attention in the space of just over a year. The Bucharest club value him at £12 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for Chelsea as they look to add options to their back line.
