Manchester United’s Anderson Set For Portugal Return

Midfielder could be used in deal for Porto’s James Rodriguez.

Anderson could finally be set to call time on his Old Trafford career, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Brazilian midfielder arrived at Manchester United in 2007 for a whopping £25.7 million but has since failed to realise his full potential at the club and has found himself down the pecking order in recent seasons.

Anderson now finds himself behind the likes of Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Phil Jones in the battle for midfield positions and it appears that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is finally prepared to cut his losses on the player, paving the way for Anderson to return to Portugal. The player signed for United from Porto and it is thought his former club would be interested in taking the hard-working player back.

That could set up a potential exchange deal involving James Rodriguez. Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the 21 year old Colombian and could look to tempt Porto into doing a deal for the midfielder by using Anderson as a makeweight.

Ferguson reportedly made a £25 million bid for the “South American Cristiano Ronaldo” last summer, only for Porto to turn it down, but with the United boss reportedly keen to strengthen in the midfield, it is thought likely that Fergie will return for Rodriguez come the end of the season.
