Anfield club ready to seal deal for Sergi Canos.
Liverpool are closing in on Barcelona youngster Sergi Canos according to The Express.
The Spanish youngster has come through the ranks at the club’s famed La Masia academy. Canos has come through the same academy at Barcelona that has produced the likes of Argentine superstar Leo Messi and Spanish pair Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
Canos is yet to sign a professional contract with the Catalan giants and that could allow another club to come in and poach the player from Barcelona.
A number of young stars have been pouched from Barcelona in recent years and the club is aware that top European sides are now monitoring the club’s academy players in the hopes of securing the signature of the next world superstar on a cheap deal.
The La Liga leaders are currently attempting to persuade the youngsters of the dangers of signing a contract with another club as they look to stem the flow of talented teenagers leaving the club before signing a professional deal.
But it appears that may be too late to prevent Canos leaving with the player seemingly set for a move to Anfield.
Barcelona offered the player a professional contract of £15,500 but his head appears to have been turned after Liverpool appeared ready to double that.
