Citizens ready to bring Greek centre back to Etihad.

Check in to Manchester City vs West Ham United

Manchester City are lining up a big money move for Schalke centre back Kyriakos Papadopoulos according to The Daily Star.

The Greek defender has been in fine form for the German giants this season and has captured the eye with a number of impressive performances.

Those displays have not gone unnoticed and it now appears that Manchester City are ready to bring Papadopoulos to the Etihad Stadium.

Talks between Manchester City and Schalke are thought to have already begun and the two clubs are thrashing out terms over a deal.

It is thought that the two sides are close to reaching a deal and his signing could be announced in the coming weeks.

City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to overhaul his squad after watching them fall away in the race for the Premier League title this season.

It is thought that the Italian boss believes many of his title winning side from last season to have become complacent and he is keen to inject new blood into his squad this summer.

Mancini is thought to be ready to offload ageing defenders Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure in the coming months and that would pave the way for Papadopoulos’ arrival at the Etihad.

The Greek international is thought to have a buyout clause in his contract in the region of £17 million.
