French club Monaco are planning to beat a host of clubs to the signing of Malaga’s Isco, talkSPORT reports.

The principality club have secured their return to Ligue 1 this week and are planning on building a squad capable of challenging for Europe and have already been linked to a host of stars including Wayne Rooney, Bacary Sagna, Joao Moutinho and now Isco.

The 21-year-old has been one of Europe’s hottest properties for the past two years and the queue to sign him is ever growing.

Arsenal and Manchester City had been favourites to land the Spanish international, though it is now Monaco who are hoping to jump in and persuade him that a move to France will be the better option.

Despite Malaga’s financial difficulties, the young attacking midfielder is still under a three year contract and has a minimum release clause of £30 million. Any club able to match that valuation would help ease Malaga’s need for cash.

Reports believe that Monaco’s Russian owner, Dmitry Rybolovlev, will start the ball rolling at £24 million to test their resolve as he intends on making Monaco a major force in European football.

Former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri is n charge at Monaco, but that hasn’t stopped Rybolovlev from approaching Jose Mourinho and Roberto Mancini about taking over from the Tinkerman.
