Paris Saint-Germain have reported struck a deal to bring Napoli’s highly rated striker Edinson Cavani to Ligue 1, according to talkSPORT.

According to reports in France, PSG’s sporting director, Leonardo, met with the Uruguayan and his agent several times in order to thrash out a four-year deal worth £7.2 million a season.

The news will bring an end to two years of speculation surrounding the 26-year-old’s future and will break the hearts of Chelsea and Manchester City, both of whom had been tipped with battling it out with each other to land his signature.

The French club have yet to announce the move as official, but it is rumoured that his former Napoli strike partner Ezequiel Lavezzi played a major part in persuading him to link up with the mega-rich Parisians.

Cavani has been in deadly form this season having already bagged 32 goals for the Neapolitans who are still in the hunt to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Scudetto appears to be just out of reach this term as they sit in second place  11 points behind Juventus with just five games left to go.

Chelsea are being repeatedly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao so they won’t be too disappointed by the news but Cavani had reportedly been a long time target for City who are set to rebuild their squad in order to win back the Premier League title from Manchester United.
