A list of the ten most improved players this season.
10. Ashley Williams – Swansea City
Nobody had heard of the 28-year-old two years ago, but since Swansea earned promotion he’s become a rock at the heart of the team as well as one of the country’s hottest properties with both Liverpool and Arsenal said to slugging it out to land his signature this summer.
Though he’s had his injury problems this term he can count this as his most successful season to date.
When Michel Laudrup arrived he carried on from where the predecessor left of, adding a more continental flair. Paired next to Chico Flores, he’s looked more solid than he did last year and his fine form earned him a new three-year extension.
A strong league campaign that has seen The Swans establish consolidate themselves in the top flight was capped off with a Capital One Cup victory in March, with Williams leading the side out at Wembley to collect their first major trophy in English football.
Despite Wales’ lowly standing in their World Cup qualifying group, his form has extended to the national side. He has confirmed himself as another genuine talent that the country has produced that may never get to perform on the biggest stage.
