Barcelona Plot Summer Move for Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez

According to Italian source TuttoMercato Barcelona one of a growing list of clubs said to be interested in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Some sources speculate that the Uruguayan international may be ready to quit the Premier League after his latest ban, a ten match suspension that came as a result of biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, and the 26 year old would surely be tempted by any offer from the Nou Camp side.

Tito Vilanova may well feel his side could do with more of a cutting edge up front as currently the Catalan side probably relies too heavily on Lionel Messi for the finishing touch. Alexis Sanchez has had a poor season and though David Villa has been handed a new contract at 31 the Spanish international is perhaps not a long term solution to the problem.

Suarez has had an excellent season with Liverpool this term, scoring 30 goals in all competitions and is a player Brendan Rodgers would be loathed to lose.

The Liverpool boss has seen Suarez form an effective partnership with Daniel Sturridge and despite the fact he will miss six games of the next campaign Rodgers would surely look to prevent any advances for the Ajax man.

Liverpool’s owners have also backed the under-fire striker so are unlikely to consider offers, regardless of their value, unless of course Suarez himself looks to force the issue by demanding an exit.
