Liverpool are reportedly the latest Premier League side to take an interest in Swansea City striker Michu according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

Brendan Rodgers is perhaps keen to beef up his striking options given that Luis Suarez will miss the first six matches of next term but may well have to fork out a big sum to land the in-form Spaniard.

Liberty Stadium boss Michael Laudrup believes that the player he picked up for a bargain price of just £1.9m last summer is now worth £30m.

This is a fee that the Anfield side will not fork out but could look to tempt the Welsh side with a big money offer, though one wonders if Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins would be keen to business with the club’s former boss, especially since he picked up Joe Allen from the club soon after he left for Merseyside.

Michu has netted 17 Premier League goals this season but the 27 year old is still yet to win a full senior Spanish national team cap and may feel that a high profile move could earn him a chance in Vicente del Bosque’s internatioanl set-up, perhaps especially relevant with a World Cup on the horizon.

Though Liverpool seem to manage just fine without Luis Suarez last weekend, picking up a 6-0 win with Fabio Borini netting his first Premier League goal and Daniel Sturridge grabbing a brace, Rodgers will still feel the need to strengthen his attack and knows that Michu us a proven scorer in the English top tier.
