Manchester United are ready to launch a massive bid to re-sign Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo following news that PSG had entered the race to land the 28 year old Portuguese international.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to welcome the former Old Trafford hero back to the club and his side is willing to offer £65m as well as winger Nani in a deal the Scot hopes will edge any offer from Ligue 1 big spenders this summer.

Ferguson will look for a green light from Ronaldo’s representatives as to his desire to return to Man United before making a concrete offer, one that will be quite a statement of intent from the Premier League chamions.

Having seen his side stumble in the Champions League over the past two seasons Ferguson is hoping to strengthen his Man United squad and lucrative sponsorship deals completed in recent weeks, including a £160m agreement with AON, will swell his transfer fund coffers.

Real Madrid may elect to listen to offers for the accomplished forward as Ronaldo has just two years to run on his current contract and has thus far refused advances of a new offer.

Bernabeu president Florentino Perez knows that each month that passes without a new deal being signed would see the player’s value decrease and with interest in Tottenham winger Gareth Bale said to be genuine the Spanish giants may consider selling Cristiano Ronaldo to make way for the Welsh international.

Man United are willing to offer Ronaldo a £250,000 a week deal, making him the club’s joint highest earner.

Perhaps more importantly Ronaldo’s sponsors Nike, who are of course Man United’s kit sponsor, are willing to offer further incentive to leave Real Madrid for a move back to Old Trafford.
