Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with interest in goal-scoring midfielder Claudio Marchisio for quite some time and Click Manchester reports that the Scot may be ready to make an offer with speculation rife that Juventus could be set to consider offers for the Italian international.

Gazzetta dello Sport believe Antonio Conte is set for a busy summer and is set to sacrifice Marchisio to help boost his transfer fund kitty and having publicly stated that Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is going nowhere there appears to be a possibility that locally born Marchisio may be a player he is willing to sell.

Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the playmaker, who could be considered as the ideal man to replace Paul Scholes in the Old Trafford midfield.

Ferguson lacks a goal-scoring option among his complement of central midfielders and could well do with a player in the mould of the younger Scholes, who had for years been on hand to provide a dozen plus goals a season, offering much needed support to his strike-force and on hand to ably link midfield and attack.

Marchisio is into his eighth season at Juventus and may be open to a new challenge and Ferguson is said to have a hefty transfer war-chest available with which to invest in the box to box midfielder this summer.

Man United could elect to use unwanted players into the bargain, with winger Nani said to be a player Conte would like to bring to Juventus.
