Stamford Bridge hope to bring in Bernabeu duo.
Chelsea are reportedly likely to land Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso if they manage to secure a deal to welcome back manager Jose Mourinho according to the Independent.
The World Cup winning Spaniard is said to be one of the few players in the Bernabeu dressing room who have backed Mourinho during his darker days and the Blues are apparently keen to bring in the experienced campaigner as part of any deal to nab their former boss.
Real Madrid are ready to negotiate a deal to allow Mourinho to return to Stamford Bridge amid reports that another former Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti, is being lined up as his replacement.
One previous sticking point in a move to lure Mourinho back to West London was said to be his willingness to work with technical director Michael Emenalo, but this is apparently an issue that has been resolved by all parties.
31 year old Alonso has just over a year to run on his current contract and has thus far resisted calls to sign a new deal and having been one of Mourinho’s biggest, and perhaps one of very few, allies at Real Madrid the self-styled ‘Special One’ would presumably be very happy to once again work with the former Liverpool man.
A move to capture Alonso would be perhaps with a view to replacing Frank Lampard, with the Chelsea veteran set to leave the club when his contract comes to an end this summer.
