Rafael Benitez is understood to have an offer from PSG waiting for him when his time as interim manager of Chelsea finishes at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

A move to the French capital would complete a rather crazy turn of events, with the Spaniard replacing Carlo Ancelotti, who in turn would be replacing Chelsea-bound Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Benitez was an unpopular choice for manager when he was appointed by Roman Abramovich to replace Roberto Di Matteo in the middle of the season, and results have not really worked in the former Liverpool man’s favour, making an exit inevitable.

Mourinho is favourite to be the Blues’ manager next season, after announcing that he wants to quit Real Madrid. The Portuguese tactician had a successful spell at Stamford Bridge from 2004 to 2007, but left after a dispute with Abramovich.

His vacancy at the Bernebeu will make way for PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian believed to be the number one target for the Spanish giants. Benitez taking Ancelotti’s place with the big-spending French club will complete the circle.

Chelsea have also been linked with Manuel Pellegrini of Malaga and Jurgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund, as doubts remain over whether Abramovich and Mourinho would work together again.
