Chelsea full back on Viola’s radar.
Chelsea full back Cesar Azpilicueta has emerged as a target for Italian side Fiorentina this summer, The Express understands.
The 23-year-old signed for the club last summer in a £6.5 million deal from Marseille and was forced to wait to make his mark on the side. he failed to establish himself under Roberto Di Matteo, but has found a regular starting role under interim boss Rafa Benitez.
And his fine performances since breaking into the team have caught the eye of Fiorentina who want to add some more options to their back line.
The Italians have also reportedly sounded out Galatasaray about Emmanuel Eboue’s availability but it is believed that the Spanish international from Chelsea is their preferred choice.
Azpilicueta began his career in his native Spain with Osasuna before joining Marseille in 2010. Since linking up with Chelsea he’s made 43 appearances across all competitions, but it took him until November to make his first league start for the club.
Chelsea host FC Basel in the second leg of their Europa League semi final this week. Having missed out on an FA Cup final appearance, losing out to Manchester City, and suffering an inconsistent league campaign, they will be hoping to put the tie to bed and claim some silverware to show for their efforts.
