Italian source Corriere Dello Sport claim that Napoli are in talks to sign Man City striker Edin Dzeko this summer.

The Bosnian international has struggled to retain a spot in Roberto Mancini’s starting eleven despite the Italian electing to pay Wolfsburg £27m for his services and despite the fact that when called upon the powerful forward has more often than not delivered the goods.

The 27 year old forward may well feel it’s time to move on given that he may feel he is undervalued. Dzeko may be Man City’s top Premier League scorer with a dozen goals however he has only been handed 14 top tier starts this term and is down Mancini’s pecking order behind Argentine pair Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero.

Any interest shown by Napoli in Dzeko is bound to leave many assuming his potential move to the San Paolo would be with a view to replacing prolific Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, who is repeatedly linked with interest from a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’, though it’s unclear whether this is the intention.

Napoli have had a steady season this term, arguably being Juventus’s only real title rivals this term.
