A number of Premier League clubs are looking at signing Manchester City youngster Abdisalam Ibrahim, according to Sky Sports.

The midfielder has impressed on loan for Norwegian club Stromsgodset this season, but faces a fight for first-team football at the Eithad Stadium next season, with the likes of Yaya Toure ahead of him in the pecking order, and more big-name and big-money signings surely set to follow, such as Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk who was strongly linked earlier today.

However, his displays have caught the attention of the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, who may look to snatch the 21-year-old from City.

Arsenal have been linked before, as they continue to search for a replacement for Alex Song in their defensive midfield role. Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey have attempted to fill the role this year, but with mixed success, and Abou Diaby remains a long-term absentee through injury.

Ibrahim has been compared with Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, now a football development exeutive at Manchester City, and might be seen by Arsene Wenger as the ideal candidate to shore up his midfield. The French manager has a fondness for nurturing young talent, and this could swing the move in the Gunners’ favour should Ibrahim decide to leave.
