Bacary Sagna could decide to stay at Arsenal.
Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna could be set for a shock u-turn, and reject an offer from PSG to stay with the Gunners, according to the Daily Mirror.
The French full-back has stalled on signing a new contract with Arsenal and has expressed his disappointment in the club’s transfer dealings, after the sales of Robin van Persie and Alex Song to Manchester United and Barcelona last summer.
After criticising their lack of ambition, the former Auxerre man seemed set for a return to Ligue 1 with big-spending PSG, but it now seems he could be persuaded to change his mind and stay in North London.
Arsene Wenger would welcome this boost, as he would not want to lose another experienced player for a cut price, with Sagna’s contract expiring at the end of next season. Other experienced defenders have been linked with moves, as Thomas Vermaelen is unhappy with his current role on the bench and Laurent Koscielny is wanted by Bayern Munich.
The Gunners have been linked with right-backs to replace Sagna, such as Manchester City’s Micah Richards, but Wenger would certainly prefer to keep the 30-year-old instead of making yet more changes to his team.
Wenger himself has also recently been linked with PSG, as they look for a new manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti next season.
