Chelsea’s pursuit of fresh attacking options has reportedly taken them to Borussia Dortmund as the Blues are ready to make an offer for in-form Pole Robert Lewandowski according to Sport24.

The Blues are apparently set to offer €25m (£21m) as well as Belgian Kevin de Bruyne in part exchange for the 24 year old Bundesliga ace, a deal that Jurgen Klopp may well be amenable to.

Lewandowski is hotly tipped to leave Dortmund this summer having thus far refused to pen a new deal with his current contract having just over a year to run. Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on the striker but Klopp would presumably prefer to sell to a non-domestic rival, especially having seen Mario Gotze already agree a deal to move to the Allianz Arena.

Robert Lewandowski is the Bundesliga’s top goal-scorer this term and scored 30 in all competitions last season and his four goal haul against Real Madrid will have won him further prospective suitors to boot.

Chelsea have had no problem finding the back of the net this term, managing over a 100 in all competitions, however the lion’s share of the goals have come from the club’s midfield and wide areas and not from their strikers. Indeed 50 of the club’s goals have come from Frank Lampard, Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard.

De Bruyne has impressed during a loan spell at Werder Bremen this season and would probably jump at the chance of a permanent switch to Borussia Dortmund as he still awaits his first Chelsea senior appearance.
